Obituary of Rickert S. Watkins
Rick was born on October 24, 1953 to Bill and Doris Watkins at the USAF Hospital on Parks Air Force Base in Vallejo, California.
Eleven months later his brother Micky was born.
After the service Bill and Doris packed up the boys and moved back to Fruitland, his dad's hometown, where his sisters Trina and Twila were born.
Rick attended all his school years in Fruitland. After high school he attended Links School of Business in Boise.
His life's goal was to be the "City Clerk of Fruitland". He attained that goal and went on to wear many hats incuding his love of the Fruitland Fire Department "Chief" 35 years. Director of Payette County Ambulance for 11 years and City Administrator for 46 years, until his full retirement in 2022.
Rick married Kim in 1978 and raised their family in Fruitland.
Rick is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kim. Daughter Leslie (Rick) Brock and grandchildren of Stockton, Ca., Grandson Jusstin (Nayelli) and Great-grandchildren Brooklynn and Karrson, grandson Austin, Chandler(Stephanie), Tyler, Mason, Grayson, Lincoln, Emmett, Remington, and Job. Daughter Jennifer(Matt) Wardas, Kasilof, AK and grandchildren Johnny, Trapper and Charlotte. Daughter Dyan Stephens, Meridian, and grand sons Oliver and Harrison and son Bill(Ernie) Denver, CO. Sister Trina Ireland of Fruitland and nieces Tonijo (Josh Scholl) Trenton and Ayden Jo, Payette, ID and Shauna (Les Randall) Aaron, Leslie, Ian, Madison, and Dylan of Emmett, ID, niece, Shelbie Hoffman, Ontario, OR. and brother-in-law Rusty Rasmussen.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Doris Watkins, brother Micky and sister Twila Hoffman and grand parents Sim and Fannie Watkins.
Service will be held at the Fruitland Middle School at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2023.
Arrangements by Lienkaemper-Thomason Funeral Home. Rick will be laid to rest with his brother and other family members at Parkview Cemetery in New Plymouth at a later date.
