Linda Hite

Obituary of Linda Jean Hite

How do you describe and do justice to 83 years of living.  Well, we will start at the beginning.

Linda Jean Smith was born on April 24, 1940, to Luella and Earnest Smith.  There were seven siblings.  The Smith family lived beside Mitchell Butte where they farmed.

Linda attended school in Adrian, Oregon.  As a young teenager, Linda would go stay with the neighbors to take care of the kids and to earn a little money.

Linda met and married Ralph Hite.  They had a farm across the road from Luella and Ernie's farm.

Linda had two children, Katie and Kent.  Linda worked in the fields as a farm laborer with her sister-in-law Ethel Smith.  She also rode the spud digger helping to harvest potatoes.

Linda worked as a waitress for a lot of years at the Twilight Cafe in Nyssa.  After that, Linda became a caregiver.  She worked for the state of Oregon caring for elderly people.  She really enjoyed her relationships with her clients.  When Linda's mother's health began failing she cared for her mother until her death.

In the later years of Lida's life, she was cared for by her children.

For the last two years of Linda's life, she lived at Nyssa Gardens Assisted Living.  She loved getting her fingernails painted every week, and the craft projects and activities available to her there.

There were people there she had known for forever and she was very happy there.

Linda is survived by her two children, Katie and Dave Cleaver, Kent and Norma Hite, and her siblings Ronnie and Ethel Smith.

She is preceded in death by her parents Ernie and Luella Amith, Darlene and Red Price, Bud, and Evelou Smith, Shirley Smith, Lester Auker and Ralph Hite.
