Obituary of Donna K. Bonds
On the early morning of June 17, 2023, Donna Kathleen Bonds, a long-time resident of Council, ID went to be with her Lord & Savior. She was 71 years old.
On September 30, 1951, Kathy was born to Don and Susan Menter in Reno, NV. Kathy was the eldest child and only daughter, followed by 4 brothers: Kelly, Jeff, John, and Robert.
Kathy spent her young childhood in Ukiah, CA. The family decided to move to Idaho. They moved throughout Southwest Idaho before settling in Boise, ID where Kathy attended and graduated from Bishop Kelly High School in 1969. The family then moved to Council, Id where they resided for the remainder of their lives. After high school, Kathy attended 1 year of college in Bottineau, ND. She did return home to Council, ID due to being homesick.
On September 19, 1970, Kathy married Douglas Ray Deeds. They resided in Council, ID where Kathy was a homemaker. On September 5, 1973, Kathy gave birth to her only child, a daughter, Linda Sue. Kathy and Doug divorced in 1978. Kathy remained in Council, ID where she worked as a waitress. In 1979, Kathy and Linda moved to Hermiston, OR where Kathy worked at the Simplot Potato Factory. By 1980, Kathy returned to Council, ID, and in June of 1986 married Johnny Lee Bonds. They remained married up to his death in August of 2008. Kathy enjoyed spending time in her yard and garden, with friends and family, on long drives in the mountains, huckleberry picking, and swimming. After losing Johnny, Kathy assisted the local library and in the thrift store. In recent years, she loved to bake and made sure everyone had some of her cookies. Kathy was active in TOPS and in the Council Community Church. She enjoyed spending time with her church family and her TOPS family. She truly treasured these friendships. Kathy is preceded in death by her Parents, Husband Johnny, Brother Kelly, and Nephew Trevor. She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Vern Ludwig), granddaughter, Sierra Schmeckpeper, 3 brothers, Jeff, John, and Robert, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Council Community Church, Saturday, July 1, 2023, at 1 pm.
