Obituary of Leona Mae Clark
Leona Clark, 100 years old, of Weiser, Idaho died April 17, 2023 in Fruitland, Idaho. Leona was born to John and Josephine Lanyon July 18, 1922.
Leona attended grade school in Cambridge, Midvale and Weiser and she completed three years of high school in Weiser. She then moved to Boise, Idaho and enrolled in “Lady Catherine's Beauty School”. After completion of beauty school and passing the state board of certification she moved to Craigmont, Idaho and managed a beauty shop.
When WWII broke out, she moved to Weiser and worked. After the war she married Jim Skow. Jim passed away in 1978. She then married Glendon Clark in 1979. She bought her beauty shop in 1963. She sold the shop in 1982 and retired.
Glendon and Leona were active members of the First Christian Church for many years. They were also very active in the Senior Citizen’s organization, where they hosted dances at the Senior Center for several years, also traveling 2-3 times a week to go dancing at other Senior Centers. Glendon passed away in 2011.
Leona was known for pie making with her specialty being sour cream raisin. She loved to sew making Glendon’s shirts and her matching tops and skirts for dancing. She also enjoyed knitting. She once took a request from a California hunter and knitted him a jacket with a pheasant on the back.
Leona is preceded in death by her parents, a baby brother Johnnie Lewellen, a sister Eva Lovegreen, step-daughter Johnna Eisenbarth.
She is survived by a daughter Linda Nelson, son Michael Skow, step-daughter Glenda Clark of Tacoma, Washington. She has 5 grandchildren, Michelle Holtzclaw, Amy McCurry, Ryan Waldrop, Cadon Skow and Shane Skow. Great grandchildren, Dylan Holtzclaw, Owen McCurry, Madeline McCurry, Bryce Skow and Jackson Skow. Several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery, April 28, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Angel Wings Network, Inc. 773 W. Main St., Weiser or a charity of your choice.
