Obituary of Sharon Fox-Thiel

Sharon Marie Thiel

August 25, 1939 – December 29, 2021

Sharon Thiel passed peacefully on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 in Boise, Idaho. An only child, Sharon was born in Ontario, Oregon to the late Donald and Dorothy Fox. She was raised in Adrian, Oregon, and attended Adrian High School and Eastern Oregon University.

At the age of 21, Sharon married her loving husband John L. Thiel, also from Adrian. They were married on September 17, 1960. Sharon and John were life partners and best friends of 61 years. In 1965, Sharon and John moved to Boise, and raised a daughter and son together, Paula and Randal. Sharon enjoyed her work as a substitute teacher, elementary school librarian, and devoted her life to raising her children and caring for John.

To escape the cold winters, Sharon cherished vacationing in Maui for many years embracing the sunshine, migrating whales and picturesque moons. In Boise, she could be found daily running or walking on the Greenbelt near Barber Park and Marianne Williams Park in her bright clothing together with her signature greeting “Good Morning” to everyone she encountered along the way.

Sharon is survived by her husband John, daughter Paula and son Randal, their spouses Jon and Dawn, and her grandchild Bailey. She is preceded in death and now in the loving arms of her father Donald J. Fox and mother Dorothy M. Fox, and joined with grandparents, and uncles and aunt.

Funeral Mass will be held at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Nyssa, Oregon on Monday, January 10, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Committal service to follow at the Owyhee Cemetery.
