For several years Ed was my best friend and neighbor in Parma. We helped each other all the time with farm tasks and operating equipment. Many mornings Ed would stop by my place for tea--and Ed only liked Lipton tea. I tried to give him some fancier tea once and he told me he never drank anything but Lipton tea his whole life. Then I went out and bought Lipton's.
Ed loved to laugh and we did lots of laughing together. We went together to buy his old road grader and I think I got more use of it than he did. Ed's house was always a mess and I never could get him to fix it up a bit. But, he did love his Bose radio.
Over the years, I built a new house to replace the trailer I lived in and Ed then never seemed comfortable in the big new house. We drifted apart for no good reason. I missed his presence then and I missed his time of death too. But, I will always remember Edward Tschida as a terrific friend.
