Donna Faw-Hale

Obituary of Donna Faw-Hale

Donna Marie Hale was welcomed into Heaven on March 4, 2019 at Pioneer Assisted Living Home in Vale at the age of 91 with loved ones by her side. Donna was born July 3, 1927 in Delta, Utah to William and Marie Jacobson. She moved to Vale in 1934, when she was 5 years old and has lived in this community her entire life. In 1947 she married Earl Faw. Together they raised four children and established a Dairy of Honor Farm—just west of Vale.  Sadly, Earl met an untimely death in 1971. Several years later Donna married Paul Hale.

Donna was an active member of many community organizations. She was involved in the West Bench Community Club, the Malheur County Home Extension Clubs, the Malheur County Dairy Wives Association, and the Vale Grange. She also shared her talents as a chair and superintendent at the Malheur County Fair and was a 4-H leader for over 15 years. Her other roles include being a board member of the All-West Dairy Breeders Association, the Vale School Board, and was active on the Vale City Council. She volunteered with numerous other organizations and dedicated her life to bettering her community.

The Vale United Methodist Church was a large part of Donna’s life. She held many roles there and faithfully worked as a servant of God. Her church family meant the world to her, and she greatly enjoyed sharing her life with them.

She enjoyed playing games, traveling, going on cruises, square dancing, and going to her cabin on Lake Owyhee. She proudly stated that she “water-skied when she was 70-years young!” Social activities always kept her busy. She was an active member of many bridge and pinochle clubs, and loved a good game of cribbage—but woebegone anybody who dared to beat her.

She adored her friends and family! Her home was always open to new people. She loved her many exchange students from around the world, a foster child, and anyone else who paid her a visit.

Donna is survived by her daughters, Judy Crenshaw (Keith) of Camarillo, CA, Karalee Walker (Tom) of Richland, WA, son John Faw (Patty) of Ontario, and daughter Peggy Anthony (Steve) of La Grande, OR. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, three great-grandsons, her sister Wilma Steele of Redding, CA, two first cousins, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Earl Faw, her second husband, Paul Hale, and her brother Clarence Jacobson. Donna was blessed to have three wonderful men in her life, Earl Faw, Paul Hale, and special companion, Robert Bradfield.

A Celebration of Life for Donna will be held at the Vale Christian Church on March 30, 2019, 11:00 AM. Donna loved hosting friends and family for meals and in her honor dinner will be served immediately after the service. The family will have a private burial prior to the Celebration of Life.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Pioneer Place, Encompass Home Health, and the many others who cared for and supported our beloved mother.

Memorial donations may be made to the Vale Alumni Association or Vale Methodist Church.
