Russell (Russ) Stephen Strain, 56, of Ontario, Oregon lost his battle with Cancer, Friday, July 6, 2018 surrounded by his family.
Russ was born May 3, 1962 in Great Falls, Montana to Rose and Verne Strain. In 1972 the family moved to Prince Rupert B.C. where he was raised and attended school. In 1981 the family moved to Smithers B.C. where he enjoyed driving around the backcountry in his truck and developed his love of rockhounding and photography. He also enjoyed baking and turned it into a career when he moved back to the states in 1995. In 1997, he met his wife Nancy while working in the bakery at Aiken’s Market. Russ and Nancy along with her three children became a family when they were married in January of 2001.
He is survived by his wife Nancy of Ontario; Son, Craig (Tiffany) Kendall of Weiser, Idaho; son, Cody Kendall of Ontario; Daughter, Megan (Tim) Davis of Ontario; his parents, Vern and Rose Strain of Werner Alberta, Canada; Brother Dennis of Smithers B.C., Canada; sister Christina of Fernie B.C., Canada, sister Phyllis of Burnaby B.C., Canada; and sister Johanna of Nampa, Idaho; Aunt Pat Culley of Weiser, Idaho; Aunt Renee Edwards of Weiser, Idaho; Aunt Linda of Utah; Numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and grandchildren.
A service will be held Friday, July 13th at 10:00 a.m. in Weiser, Idaho at St. Agnes Catholic Church. His wishes were that anybody who wants to attend would be welcome.
