Otoniel Rodríguez

Otoniel Rodriguez, 89, of Ontario, Oregon passed away Saturday, April 7, 2018.
Otoniel was also known as “Nelo” or “Tony” by family and friends. He was born in Laredo, Texas, son of Leon and Luisa Rodriguez. He was raised there until he entered the military as a member of the U.S. Air Force. He served three years from 1946-1949. His last rank was a Corporal and released with an Honorable discharge.
He brought his entire immediate family including all his siblings and three nieces from Texas to Oregon to live a better life.
He was a migrant worker for several years before his full time employment as a Mechanic at Ore-Ida. He retired from Ore-Ida after 32 years at the age of 64.
He played baseball for several years for a local Ontario group and he was a star pitcher!
He was very well liked by the Latino community, was a law abiding citizen who kept to himself and loved his family.
His golden years were spent learning from great books, helping his family and caring for his beloved canine friends.
He is survived by his sister Arminda Markham of Ontario, Oregon. Otoniel was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Luisa, Noemi, Rachel, Estela and a brother Jose.
Services will be held Saturday at 2 P.M. at the Lienkaemper Chapel, Ontario, Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.

    Nelo was a wonderful man and an amazing, giving human being! He loved his family and was highly respected by us all! He will be missed dearly! May he Rest In Peace! Love him always!
