Edna M. Van Egmond-Gomez

Edna Marie Van Egmond-Gomez, 67, died peacefully at home August 8, 2018 in Payette, ID. Edna is survived by her husband, Ron Gomez, Payette, ID, and siblings Thelma and Paul Van Egmond of Ontario, OR, and Dorothy Van Egmond of Middleton, ID. She is preceded in death by parents, John and Mary Van Egmond, and brother, Frank Van Egmond.
Edna was born on July 4th, 1951, a national holiday that the younger Edna thought was “annually dedicated just to her.” An absolute beauty with charisma, wit, and charm, Edna lived her life with gusto. She graduated from Ontario High School in 1969, then at age 18 moved to Hawaii where she worked as a model and made many lifelong friends. Earning a degree in journalism from LA Valley College, she travelled in Europe, Canada, and Mexico, and lived for a time in New York, Los Angeles, and Washington State. Her gift of gab allowed her to have engaging conversations with nearly everyone she encountered. Edna’s life changed in 1991, when she and her siblings moved home to care for their dad, after their Mama’s death. Soon thereafter, she met Ron Gomez in Ontario. They married and settled down in Payette, ID. She loved to gaze out over their parklike estate overlooking the Snake River and watch the sun set in the company of her husband and pets. Edna and Ron had a nice life of family, friends, food, golf, and fun in Payette.
A funeral service is scheduled for Wednesday, August 15th at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS church, 661 SW 12th St, Ontario, OR. She will be interred in Emmett, ID under the direction of Lienkaemper Chapel, Ontario, OR. It was Edna’s wish to express thanks and love to her husband Ron, and Heart ‘n Home Hospice Care for their help and support in her final days.
