Charles Walker

Charles Leroy Walker, 80 of Adrian, Oregon passed away Saturday, May 13, 2017 at his home.
Charles was born November 20, 1936, in Pea Green Colorado. The son of Wesley and Lura Walker.
He was raised near Delta, Colorado until 1949 and then moved to Nyssa, Oregon to live with his siblings Dutch and May Simpson, Nellie, Joann and Wesley. He worked for various farms in the Adrian area until he found a job at Nyssa Feed & Seed and then married Dolores Connell in 1961 and together had two children, Roy and Christy. After his divorce from Dolores in 1965, he worked at different ranches near Adrian, Oregon and married Marion Wright in 1968 and together had two children, Shelly and Dee. Charles also became a step father to Marion’s two daughters, Tracy and Carrie. Together Charles and Marion owned a cow calf operation in Adrian and later moved the operation to Vale, Oregon. In 1974 Charlie moved the family back to Adrian where he took full time employment at the Nyssa Road District and was divorced from Marion in 1979. For the next ten years Charles enjoyed raising his two children, Shelly and Dee and helping his oldest son Roy with college. After many years of being an empty nester, single, and enjoying the next stages of his life, Charles met his loving companion Arlene Allison in 1996 and retired from the Nyssa Road District in 1998 where he worked for 23 years. Together Charles and Arlene spent their retirement in Adrian breeding and selling registered quarter horses while enjoying time with their families. Charles and Arlene loved traveling to Alaska, Arizona and especially enjoyed a trip to Bermuda. Together they had many memorable adventures including fishing, camping and motor homing.
Charles led a full and adventurous western lifestyle and had a significant passion for cattle and horses. He had a love for music and especially enjoyed playing classic western country songs at dance halls in his early years as well as at family events. Charles enjoyed team roping, fishing, hunting and pack trips with his mules and horses.
He was survived by his loving companion Arlene Allison of Adrian Oregon:, a Son, Roy and his Wife Leslie Walker of John Day, Oregon:, a Daughter, Christy and her Husband Barry McMurphy of Topeka, Kansas:, a Daughter, Shelly and her Husband Earl Martin of Brentwood, California:, a Son, Charles Dee and his Wife Lea Walker of Payette, Idaho:, seven Grandchildren, Jeffrey Scheffel, Melissa Walker, Samuel Leon, Nathan Walker, Jordan Martin, step Granddaughters Candace Christy and Jenafer Crofts:, three step Great Grandchildren, Gauge Christy, Liam Christy and Noah-Lea Walker.
Charles was also survived by two sisters: Lillie May Simpson, Joann Martin, step Sister Faye Davis, step Brother Norman Geer, and numerous nieces and nephews. Proceeded in death: three sisters, two brothers and one step brother.
Services will be held Friday, June 9, 10:00 a.m. at the Adrian Community Church, Adrian Oregon with lunch following. Burial will follow with close family, relatives and friends at the Owyhee Cemetery.
Memorial donations can be made to the Adrian Community Church in preference of flowers. Charles accepted our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and recently baptized, the Adrian Community Church was a healing place for his last days. Charles will be dearly missed by many.
